About the piece

From the ground, shaped by hand.

The Wild Clay Collection brings together clays from different places. Some are gathered locally; others are generously brought to my studio by people from their own backyards. Each clay brings its own colour, texture and behaviour.

Preparing and working with them is a process of discovery. Their response to shaping and firing can never be fully known in advance, allowing the character of each material and its place of origin to remain present in the finished form.
